Important Information – Please Read Before Ordering Adoption Cert authenticated with Apostille Stamp
Please note: For authentication purposes in Ireland or for Irish Embassies worldwide, an Apostille Stamp is NOT necessary to have an Adoption Cert authenticated with Apostille Stamp for documents issued in Ireland (i.e. if you have an Irish issued Long Form / Civil Certificate and are applying for Irish citizenship through an Irish Embassy – an Apostille Stamp is NOT required on this document). If you are still unsure whether an Apostille Stamp is required for whatever purpose you need it, please check with the authorities in the relevant country before ordering an Adoption Cert with Apostille Stamp.
How far back do adoption records extend to obtain an Adoption Cert authenticated with Apostille Stamp?
An Adoption Cert with Apostille Stamp can be obtained as Records are available in the Republic of Ireland from 1954 onwards. A Northern Ireland Adoption Cert is available from 1931 onwards. Please note that it takes slightly longer to process requests for Irish Adoption Certificates than it does for standard Birth Certificates.
How soon after a birth can I order an official Adoption Cert online?
Only after an adoption has been officially registered in Ireland, can you apply online to request an Adoption Cert. These are now printed in A4 format on special security paper.
Can I request requests for Foreign Adoptions or Inter Country Adoption Cert on this website?
Yes, we accept requests for Foreign Adoptions or Inter Country Adoptions on this website but you will need to include additional information including the country where child was adopted from, the date of the adoption, date of birth of the child etc. Please note the length of time it will take to process the Foreign Adoptions or Inter Country Adoptions certificates may vary depending on location and complexity of request.
