CIVIL PARTNERSHIP:
Please click into our F.A.Q section for information:
BIRTH CERTIFICATES:
Birth Records commence in Ireland from 1864. Births that have taken place in Northern Ireland between 1864 - 1921 are also available. The birth of a child should be registered no later than three months afther the birth by a parent (from 2005, the hospital does not officially register the birth - it is the sole responsibility of the parent/s to do this) as this is now a legal requirement within Ireland. If the parents of a child are not married to each other then there is no presumption in law as to who is the father of the child unless the father's name is specifically mentioned on the birth certificate.
DEATH CERTIFICATES:
Death Records commence in Ireland from 1864. Deaths that have taken place in Northern Ireland between 1864 - 1921 are also available. Remember, you can only order Death Certificates online if the death has been officially registered. Since 2007 a Hospice, Hospital, GP or Nursing Home do not automatically register a death so if a death is a recent event, you need to enquire from the place where the death occurred as to who was given the "Notification of Death" documentation to allow the relevant family member to be able to go and physically register the death at a Civil Registration Office.
MARRIAGE CERTIFICATES:
Marriage Records commence in Ireland from 1864. Marriage records are available for Church of Ireland marriages from 1845. Also, available are certificates for Marriages that have taken place in Northern Ireland between 1864 - 1921. You can request/apply/order/purchase Marriage certs through this website for both Church and Registrar services. For women who have been married a second time, it is imperative that you provide both your maiden name AND previous married name when applying for a Marriage Certificate and advise us in the "Comments Section" of any such information.
